00. How long have you been designing sites?
I've been making websites since 1996, but I really only began "designing" in 2000 or 2001, I think. Prior to that, I focused on written content, and I got other people to design layouts for me.
01. What was your first website?
My Sailor Moon website. It's still online (though static and needing a massive overhaul that I can't be bothered with). Actually, it turned 13 this year. The layout was designed by my friend. :] *actually still really loves the layout, haha*
02. Wanna show us one of your earliest layouts?
Uh... not really, lol. My first website was on Geocities, and I used their HTML editor because I didn't know HTML then. This was even before frames were invented, I think, or maybe a little after they came out. *seems to remember frames being a Big Deal when Netscape Navigator started to support them* Anyway, my "layouts" were simple pages with pictures, lines, and freebie icons (like arrows and stuff) on them.
03. ..and one of your latest layouts!
Fade to Black at TAFL, Locke Cole over at TFL. They're both really simple...
04. Do you think you have some sort of "style"? If yes, details pls!
No, unfortunately. Though I tend to overuse textures to compensate for my ineptitude with brushes :/ For a loooong time, most of my layouts were centered "box" frames (or div layers), but I've tried to move away from that. I'll sometimes still go back to that by default, but I try to avoid it. >>;
05. Any webtrends you really like?
Hmm. Not that I can name offhand. :wub:
06. Others you dislike?
- Text that's almost the same color as backgrounds.
- The Javascript "back" and "forward" links that were mentioned in the TAFL survey thread.
- Layouts that are over 200kb.
- I also don't get people "naming" their networks, but I'm strange. <3
07. Some of the elements you generally like using/seeing in layouts!
I think people who can vector are amazing. And manga colorings are often fun. *can't color manga, so is jealous of people who can* That said, I don't necessarily go "omg" whenever I see people using them in layouts, just generally There's not anything I particularly like to see in layouts, I guess. *is pretty easily impressed*
08. Your favorite color to work with?
I feel like I have too many red layouts. But I probably abuse all colors about equally! Monochrome layouts make everything much easier, but mine usually turn out boring. >_>;;
09. Something you need to improve on?
Everything!
10. When it comes down to it... do you prefer making the layout or coding it?
Coding is something I usually can do without much pain, so I tend to prefer this part of it :lol: (Though sometimes I will happily shoot things because I can't figure out how to code something. :lol:) Designing the layouts is the hardest part for me.
11. Name us some of your inspirations when designing!
None, really. :| I sometimes have ideas of what I want to do, but they rarely come out the way I imagined them in my head. Also, I've drawn lots of designs on paper that tend not to work well when I can't find pictures that suit the designs. ;_;
12. How long does it usually take you to design a layout?
Hours. >>;; Even things that look RIDICULOUSLY simple are probably things I spent hours on. When people say they put together a layout in an hour, I'm jealous :x
13. What browser and screen resolution do you use?
Firefox and 1024×768. However, I still design for 800x600.
14. Have you ever thought of going into the Webdesign branch job-wise?
Nope. *has no talent for it* I've designed sites for people as favors, but that's about it. I'd never do it professionally. :]
15. Other graphics you enjoy making? (i.E. icons, wallpapers etc)
Icons sometimes. I can't do wallpapers - they're too big, too much space to fill up. Icons are much smaller, easier to do.

There were two other fanlistings I applied to adopt, but I never heard back from the owners; the fanlistings were then removed or closed, and I applied for them at the network and was approved. :wub:

18. Which do you prefer: applying for adoptions or applying at the Network?
I think applying at the network since, in a general sense, I know what to expect. Adoptions are very dependent upon each individual subject and the fanlisting owner. But I've been approved for fanlistings very dear to me both via the network and via adoptions, so I can't really complain either way <3<3
19. If you could make any one thread at TAFL, what would it be?
I ditto a thread on Kubology. And the TAFL trivia threadthough I think I would sadly lose at this :|
20. You associate (member/group) with (subject) ?

Yup, over here, though I need to rename it and give it a new layout someday.

I was browsing websites and saw some fanlistings. I checked out TFL (back when it was .net), but I admittedly wasn't too interested in them at first. Eventually, for reasons that I don't remember, I decided to apply for some FLs. My first fanlistings were for Witch Hunter Robin and Berserk, back when TAFL was still a part of TFL - actually, I think Danielle hadn't even joined TFL's staff yet. :wub:
05. Which fanlisting owners inspire you the most? (Limit 3!)
Lots of people, particularly TAFL staffers and ex-staffers! :heart: And my fellow TAFL senior staffers, of course :heart:

Probably the Characters categories, with no particular preference for either

I like writing applications when I have a lot to say. But getting approved is honestly my favorite part <3 (lol, I'm so shallow). I also like making layouts if I'm feeling inspired - I enjoy it a lot less if I have layout block.
10. What's your least favorite part of the fanlisting process?
Rejections - both getting them and sending them out. Also, making codes if I don't have any good images to use. :wub: (When I have a lot of great images, I love making them. <3)
11. If you could apply for anything, no rules attached, what would it be?
This is a toughie. I'm not a fan of character group fanlistings, so I don't think I'd apply for those, and there honestly aren't too many relationships with more than 3 characters that I'd want to apply for. The only "version" of a character I think I'd want to apply for is hollow Ichigo from Bleach because he's fun, crazy, and a badass.
lol, Marie, you perv... Ichigo's bankai really IS super hot though~
12. Favorite fanlisting layout?
I admire lots of people's layouts, so I couldn't choose just one. Maybe one per person, lol, but that would take too long to list. My favorite layout from my fanlistings is Haruka x Michiru.

Not including Pokemon or Mokona (who are all kind of genderless, though you could argue Pikachu and Pochama are boys) or any of the crosslisted video game characters, only one of my character fanlistings is for a male. The rest (all 11 of them) are for females. (Though, to be fair, I applied for and was rejected for three of my top 5 male characters, so it's not all my fault. I do love female characters a lot more though...)
Also, I used to have an actual written fanlisting will, but that got punted once my "beneficiaries" started cutting back on or dropping out of fanlistings. Now I have a semi-sorta-mental will for some of them

The F/U/C staffer and Troubles staffer for larger categories are usually different, so they don't have access to each other's forms. If a fanlisting is on troubles for a dead link and the problem is resolved, the Troubles staffer may update the link in the database, then list the new URL under "Removed from Troubles/Problems Resolved" instead of having the F/U/C staffer do it. <3
