here is the scenario: I have two fl's that are re open (have previous owner, because of it's inactivity the TAFl removed it from the network) the thing is their site are the ones fans joining not mine, it seems when i google it, their site appear first than mine so the tendency is the fan to join that fl. (there are lots of pending member)
The question is, can I ask the owner to closed it, so people won't be confuse, and join the one who is active, Am I allowed to do that? i don't want to sound rude or anything... so I'm asking you first, can someone give me an idea on what to do...

sorry guys  first time poster but long time lurker...

No, you can't demand that the owner close their fanlisting.  You can ask, but in my opinion, that would be rude.  The previous owners still have the right to keep their fanlistings open if they want, even after those fanlistings have been removed from the network.  TAFL also can't make the owner remove the fanlisting or the TAFL link from their sites.  You can always ask, politely, if you can use their members list, but they don't have to give their members lists to you, and I would only ask that if it's clear the sites have been abandoned (for example, they haven't been updated for half a year).

Good thing I ask first, they have been abandoned the site for a year now...

so I can ask politely for the members list... but the previous owner will still decide whether he/she will give it to me, right?
well that's much better approach on things... thanks! ;)

I was in the same situation as you a while ago (except that fanlisting was still accepting members, which was even worse). The best thing to do is make a lot of affiliates, advertise it alot and hope to eventually pass the other fanlisting on search engines. I know it'll take time and it's frusterating, but many times if the fanlistings are inactive, the owner will be unwilling to listen to any emails you send them.

People are allowed to run fanlistings even if they are not a part of TAFL (or TFL, for that matter) so even though it is not networked, it is their site and we can't tell them how to run their site :D Even if it might be inactive ;);;;;

As far as I'm concerned, you can ask them to remove the "TAFL approved" bit off their fanlisting, since its been removed from the network and not listed here anymore.

But the person is still allowed to run the fanlisting, regardless if its approved or not. :) It doesn't necessarily have to be listed anywhere just for it to be considered a fanlisting.

EDIT: You can also address this issue on your front page just to remind them that yours is the approved one, while the other is not. :kitty: I hope that helps.
