Here at TAFL, we are aware that many of you are members of both network boards, and own fanlistings on both networks. (Most of the staff here do so as well.) As such, we've allowed the occasional non-TAFL fanlisting mention to go unpunished, although non-TAFL promotion is technically against our Board Guidelines. These promotions have always been few in number, and have never proven troublesome before.

In recent weeks we've noticed an enormous amount of posting about non-TAFL approval subjects (and rejections thereof, and milestones, and layouts, etc), to the point where they are taking over the bulk of our frequented threads. These posts are being made by a minority of board members, who insist upon doing this, despite our asking them not to.

To those members, please be aware that this has ALWAYS been TAFL policy, but your insistence on continuing to post has made us enforce this rule.

To quote the Board Guidelines:
Quote
2) Individual posts solely promoting non-TAFL fanlistings are inappropriate and will be deleted(with possible warning of posters if it becomes a blatant disregard to the rule).

Once warned, rather than comply with these long-established guidelines, this group of members decided to mention the subjects in question in every thread and every way possible. (They have also harassed newly-approved owners of non-TAFL fanlistings, even emailed them personally, but that's another network.)

As a result of this constant rebellious posting, we have been forced to edit and delete posts, and repeatedly warned posters have been given 24-hour posting suspensions. This is common practice for repeat offenders.

While we realize there is some minor crossover in the realm of Japanese games and anime, this network is dedicated to the anime and manga side of the culture, and we would appreciate that this focus be respected, as these repeated off-topic posts are using our board resources and eating up our CPU usage, email limits and bandwidth, and not TFL's.

We realize also that our board members are tight-knit, and the general feeling of the community here is quite different from TFL; however, that has never prompted me personally to promote a TFL approval here. (Some are painfully unrelated -- Food/Drinks, Sports -- both OT promotions in recent memory.) TFL approvals, unless already cross-listed at this network, or otherwise EXTREMELY relevant, belong at the TFL Forums, and not here. (Our general exception has always been Webmasters, for those who are more known here than there.)

For the bulk of our members, we apologize profusely for the glut of off-topic posts, the occasional rudeness of the posters, and the inconvenience of so many posts being deleted. We hope this fervor will subside in coming weeks, and our boards can return to the normal anime/manga chit-chat we're all used to. Until then, please excuse the mess.  <_<
