News and Announcements / Trouble Checker Volunteer Drive
« on: January 21, 2007, 09:17:29 PM »
The volunteers list of trouble checkers was recently purged to weed out any older volunteers who were no longer interested in becoming trouble checkers or could no longer dedicate time to performing checks for one reason or another. Because of this, we need more volunteers!

Even if you've applied before in the past and have not been hired, please apply again, as we wanted to make sure we had correct and current information from all of our applicants.

If you're interested in becoming a trouble checker, please fill out the volunteer form. Be sure you read all of the requirements and fully complete the form before submitting it.  Just remember as fun as trouble checking can be, it is a very time-consuming job and we only want the best!

Thanks so much!

News and Announcements / 2006 Troubles Hiatus
« on: November 26, 2006, 06:20:28 PM »
Since we are quickly approaching the holiday season when many of our staff and fanlisting owners will be on vacation and busy with holiday events, we have decided to hold another troubles hiatus.

This hiatus will last from December 17, 2006 through January 7, 2007; and will only affect troubles and too long on upcoming updates. Therefore, during the hiatus period, no fanlistings will be placed on TAFL troubles.

We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and expect normal troubles updates to occur after January 7th. :/

News and Announcements / "Did you get..?" Thread Abuse
« on: February 08, 2006, 10:07:53 PM »
It has come to our attention that the "Did you get...?" threads are becoming more of a hindrance than a convenience. Please keep in mind that those threads exist solely as a courtesy to board members and that you should always use the contact forms to reach a staffer directly.

Chances are that you will receive a much quicker response using contact forms. E-mail is much more efficient for the staffer and thus for the category and for you, since a staffer is more likely to check their e-mail at least once a day than visit the boards every day. :kitty:

Although the "Did you get...?" threads will continue to be permitted on the board, please don't abuse them. We know that random issues will sometimes prevent mail from getting to and from TAFL. Just remember that there is no need to hammer the threads with repeat posts. Also, please keep your requests to the point by following the template described in the staffer's original post to keep things moving, civil, and efficient.

If the threads continue to be abused, then we will be forced to close them.

News and Announcements / TFL/TAFL Ambassadors
« on: March 07, 2005, 03:03:30 PM »
Continuing the partnership and good will established between The Fanlistings Network and The Anime Fanlistings Network, we are pleased to announce the appointment of network ambassadors, representing each site. Each network ambassador has full staff access at the partner network, and can represent their home network at the partner site.

The ambassador will assist in cross-network debates (should this subject be listed at TFL, TAFL or both?), can answer questions with the full authority of their home network, and generally help the partner network staff, if the need arises.

The TAFL network ambassador is Danielle, and she will act as TAFL's representative at the TFL network. The TFL network ambassador is Bonnie, and she will represent TFL here at the TAFL network. Although Bonnie is not a member of the TAFL staff, you will still see her at the TAFL board with her spiffy little TFL-coloured button. :bounce: Similarly, if you visit the TFL board, you may see Danielle with her watermelon-y TAFL-coloured button!

We hope that this will be a positive move for both networks, and are looking forward to further developing this partnership. :x

News and Announcements / New Forum: Hot Topics
« on: February 11, 2005, 01:04:01 PM »
Fanlistings Chit-Chat has always been a popular forum and the pinned threads were starting to take over the first page!  To fix this we've created a new "Hot Topics" sub-forum for those super active "hot" threads.  You will now find the "Latest Approvals", "Wishlist FLs" and similar threads in this new forum.

You are not allowed to create new topics, but you can reply to the current ones as you normally would.  New topics will be added/moved by Senior Staff when they turn "hot." :D

« on: February 07, 2005, 12:56:33 AM »
Just a note to say that the C/I applications form has been shut down, until the current backlog can be cleared. Please be patient as the TAFL staff catches up this category! Any application forms received by creative means, or applications sent through other forms, including the contact form, will be IMMEDIATELY discarded.

Goods for Auction/Trade/Sale / Please read before posting!
« on: December 02, 2004, 05:17:14 PM »
Please DO NOT become a board member just to post in this forum!
This is a fanlistings message board, not a goods/trading board, and this forum exists as a convenience to active board members ONLY. Anyone signing up here just to post in this forum will be warned or banned, and their topic deleted upon discovery.

This forum was created so that existing members can advertise anime/manga-related goods they are selling, either privately or on auction! To that end, we would like to impose some formatting guidelines, to help people viewing your announcement to find the information they need. Please read these guidelines carefully, as sloppy or vague posts may be deleted, if a Senior Staffer feels that nobody can figure out what you're trying to advertise!

For starters, please title your post:
Auction / Trade / Direct Sale : Type of Goods, Series

Include the following information in your post:
  • Auction, Trade or Direct Sale? (What type of transaction is it?)
  • Series, Manufacturer or Publisher. (ex: One Piece DVD, Ribon furoku, Bandai models)
  • Type of Goods. (ex: Pull-pack cards, gashapon, shitajiki)
  • Price and Payment Methods Accepted.
  • If an auction, please provide a link to the auction, and the ending date.
  • If a trade, please provide links to your trade/extras/want lists -- try not to post them here unless absolutely necessary..!!
  • Your contact information. Don't forget to mention how to get in touch with you if interested! Include an email address where people can contact you for further details, or to complete a transaction.
ABSOLUTELY NO BOOTLEG PRODUCTS ALLOWED. This is to protect you, your buyer and ourselves from legal action. Any topics found to contain bootleg items will be deleted, and the poster will be warned.

Please note: The Anime Fanlistings Network is not responsible for loss of money or items, or any complications resulting from any transaction advertised in this forum. This forum is for advertising purposes only, and all transactions are taken at your own risk. Caveat emptor!

We hope this new forum will be useful to you, have fun!

Upcoming Events and Conventions / Please read before posting!
« on: December 02, 2004, 04:57:13 PM »
This forum was created so that any member can advertise an anime/manga-related event in their area, in the hopes of recruiting help or just getting more people to come!

Event Name: Date, Location

Include the following information in your post:
  • Event Name
  • Location (be specific, provide directions if needed)
  • Dates and Times
  • Entrance Fees (if any)
  • Contact Information -- Do you need a ride? Want to share a hotel room? Are you in charge, or do you know who is? Leave some contact info in case people have further questions!
  • A Description of the Event -- Be specific! What's going on? Why would people want to go? Are you having vendors? Screenings? Cosplay events?
We hope this new forum will be useful to you, have fun!

News and Announcements / ATTN: ALL FL Applicants
« on: October 25, 2004, 04:39:06 PM »
As we noticed many of you disregarding this rule, in regards to today's large Character/Items removal, we thought a friendly reminder was in order:

You may only apply for SIX (6) subjects at a time, in any category. We noticed some of you sending in 10-30 applications at once, which of course is in violation of the above. This has ALWAYS been a rule in all A/M categories at TFL.org, and has not changed since we moved to the new network.

As such, all applications staffers are allowed to ignore and DELETE any further applications received from you, once this limit has been reached. If you sent in ten, expect that #8-10 will be deleted. This is to prevent what we've seen today: a total saturation of applications and an inundated staffer.

Edit: Please note, all staffers have been instructed to wait one week, to allow those individuals who sent in over six applications to contact them and specify which applications are to be kept, and which to discard. Since the error was on our end, we feel this is a suitable compromise. This only applies to this specific set of applications -- if you send in twenty applications in a month or so, your excess apps will be disregarded as is standard.

Thank you for your attention, and compliance with this long-standing rule!

News and Announcements / Welcome to The Anime Fanlistings Network!
« on: September 19, 2004, 10:44:23 PM »
You have reached The Anime Fanlistings Network! We are a network site (or link directory) for anime and manga related fanlistings. Formerly a part of The Fanlistings Network, we are now our own site and have partnered with The Fanlistings Network to focus exclusively on anime and manga related fanlistings.

The Anime Fanlistings Network links fanlistings for many different anime and manga related subjects, hosted on many different domains and created by many different webmasters. Having all of these fanlistings categorized in one place makes it easy for you to find fanlistings for subjects you love too, so you can join and meet others who share your interests.

This message board serves the same purpose as our TFL counterpart, and we hope you will enjoy these forums in the same way. Please play nice, and have fun! :D
