Contradictory Rule?

I just saw the latest series update, which stated "Approvals do not include recently released titles with less than 4 chapters printed and/or 4 episodes aired." Well and good and logical.

But the series application form says "For newly released series [. . .] no applications  will be processed until at least two weeks have passed since the release." Which also makes sense, but they seem contradictory to me, especially considering that the four ep. rule isn't listed?

I at least was definitely tripped up by that this week!

The 2 weeks vintage time-frame vs. 4 chapters/episodes are not necessarily contradictory since the latest is more of an additional cautionary criteria to give applicants more time to submit a form and make sure everybody's given a fair chance to "apply in time" when interested in a newly released topic :).

The rule you quoted follows the same train of thought since it wouldn't exactly be fair to approve topics right after the release date, with most likely just 1 chapter/episode released.

To round it up :P I take the two weeks as a common ground for applications to start piling up and the 4 chapters/episodes criteria for processing so in the end most topics are given at the very least a full month until deemed 'approvable' so to speak.

Makes sense! I'm definitely not bothered by the longer wait,  particularly factoring in the idea of a submissions gathering period. I  just thought maybe it was a newer concept that hadn't been written into  the applications page. It does make a difference, particularly with anime-only series, which tends to air weekly. As you said, that pretty much doubles the time frame.

Thanks for getting back to me!

No problem at all ^^! I just don't always post it along the update because sometimes there's no need to xD (when no titles fall under it obviously). When it does appear, it helps people with pending applications know that a series has not been processed due to not meeting the criteria :) so they don't have to worry about it hehe B)
