Questions for the Senior Staff / About Fanstuff
« on: September 08, 2009, 10:36:48 PM »
I'm still not sure I understand your question.  Are you asking why there isn't a general yaoi fanlisting in Fanstuff that covers all yaoi fanworks (i.e., one fanlisting to cover doujinshi, fanfiction, fanart, fanvideos, etc.)?  If so, this is because there's already a general yaoi fanlisting, which is listed under Adult > Genres.  It covers original yaoi series as well as yaoi fanworks. ^_^

Questions for the Senior Staff / About Fanstuff
« on: September 08, 2009, 07:58:28 PM »
I'm not sure I understand your question.  "Yaoi" IS a genre, at least as it's used in TAFL.  If you want to join the fanlisting for the yaoi genre as a whole (no matter the medium), it's in Adult > Genres.  It's listed under Adult because it covers sexually explicit material.

If you want to join a fanlisting for yaoi fanfiction only, then it's listed in Fanstuff > Fanfiction > Anime/Manga Fanfiction: Yaoi.  If you want to join a fanlisting for yaoi douijnshi only, it's Fanstuff > Doujinshi > Anime/Manga Doujinshi: Yaoi.  And so forth.  The "yaoi" fanlistings (and other genre fanlistings) in Fanstuff only cover whatever medium they're listed under (e.g., fanfiction or doujinshi).
@Jackie Bones really is a show you just need to see. It's an amazing combination between humor, seriousness, action, sometimes thriller-ish, great characters that continue to develop along the way... it's just awesome<3
Yes, I have heard great things about it!  One of my problems is that I don't really like the main actor, but tons of people I know love the series and him, so he can't be too bad.
I'm waiting on Fall to return.  NCIS left such a cliff hanger (the only crime-related series I watch).
For real. Terrible, terrible cliffhanger   The episode (and the entire ending arc) was unusually angsty~
I don't really watch much TV, but right now I like Life and Chuck alot.
I know several people who enjoyed Life.  Too bad it was canceled, but I think the people I knew were all expecting it due to poor ratings...
I am currently watching:

NCIS: one of the best shows ever. I love all the characters (which is quite rare), especially Ziva and Abby (and the relationship between Ziva and Tony, which is so amusing). I'm not too much into this kind of shows, but how can you resist the great mix of irony and crime/investigation?
Yes!  I love all the characters, too~  Even the ones people hate, I sort of like. <3 *loves on Ziva completely and Ziva/Tony is my show OTP* :x
Just a few months back, I hardly watched any TV at all, but lately I've been following quite a few series XD I mostly watch stuff that involves crime scenes and such, like Numb3rs, Eleventh Hour, and I recently started watching BONES. When I get the chance, I also like to watch NCIS  and Criminal Minds ^^
Ah, Bones is a series I need to watch, too, since so many people I know love it   But I always say I'll try to watch a show and then they get pushed further down the queue by other shows I have to see.
Oh man, I am such a loser, I never watch TV. The only thing I watch is Burn Notice on USA, because my husband watches is RELIGIOUSLY.

It's actually a really good show! Jackie, weren't you asking about it a while back? Did you ever check it out?
Haha, don't worry, I don't watch much TV either.  I just have my handful of shows!

Oh, I did pick up Burn Notice S1 cheap recently!  I haven't yet watched it but it is on my to-do list :D :D

Ditto this! I can't wait for Psych to come back, especially after such a great season.

TV shows!  What series are you into right now?  What series are you interested in watching?

I became obsessed with House a year ago, and I just into NCIS a few months ago.  Both are my current TV passions, but they're on break until fall.  I'm sure plenty of people have heard of House thanks to the title character - it's a medical drama.  NCIS seems to be relatively unknown in fandom world, despite its stellar American viewership numbers.  It stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service.  It's a procedural criminal investigation drama, but it's also usually funny and very character-driven.

I'm waiting for the return of Psych to get me through the summer, and I'm currently watching Leverage and Warehouse 13.  I'm interested in sitting down to watch Royal Pains, but I haven't quite done so yet.  I have a whole slew of TV series I need to watch, too~

Off-Topic Chit-Chat / What Genre are you?
« on: July 17, 2009, 11:29:44 PM »
Aaaah.  I'm a mixed salad.  But since I can only choose ONE, I would say shounen.  The majority of the series that I like are shounen.  Despite the ENDLESS BATTLING and RIDICULOUS GODLIKE POWER-UPS and occasionally GRATUITOUS FANSERVICE.  *shakes fist*  And a really good shounen series will either surpass those faults or avoid them altogether.  *hugs FMA as an example of of a good shounen manga avoiding MAJOR PITFALLS*

Fanlistings Chit-Chat / One Wish Granted
« on: July 17, 2009, 10:49:14 PM »
Topic swiped from a thread at TFL!

No matter how long your current fanlisting wishlist is, long or short, if you could be granted ONE wishlist fanlisting from TAFL, and ONLY one, which would it be? <3

Mine is Riza Hawkeye from Fullmetal Alchemist.  She's in my top 5 favorite manga/anime characters ever, and I am thankful to run the fanlistings for the other four. <3<3  *smushes them all*  Since I don't want to write a long essay, I will just keep it simple and stupid - Hawkeye is more awesome than awesomesauce! :P

Fanlistings Chit-Chat / Codes galore!

Hagaren (Fullmetal Alchemist) has by far the most with 463 ^.^  That's sure to go up with the new anime series starting up next month.   The two runners-up aren't even close - Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge has 153 (but that count includes codes by the previous owner) and Claymore has 141. :)

3. The first fanlisting you joined.
Don't remember.  Something Stargate SG-1 or Sailor Moon related, probably.

4. The last fanlisting you joined.
Not sure for TAFL P:  House episode (5x06) at TFL

9. Layout you are most proud of.
Fullmetal Alchemist's manga skin and Haruka/Michiru :sweatdrop:

Depends on the fanlisting.  Sometimes it's the codes if I'm in a good groove, sometimes it's the layouts. <3

11. Favourite fanlisting title.
"Children of War" for Gundam Wing.  I'm bad with names, so I really love this one.  I also like "Combustion" for Ed vs. Roy <3

12. Fanlisting you really need to re-vamp.
A bunch...  I need to work on the fansite portions of like 8 of them, and I need to make new layouts for Gundam Wing, Arashi, Makoto/Ito, and several more.

13. Fanlisting with the most countries represented.
Gundam Wing with 128 countries <3

General Questions and Discussion / Question Regarding Recent Update
« on: May 15, 2008, 03:33:01 PM »
The particular character was removed because her only appearance has been at the end of one episode, in which she had a one-word line.  She has no personality as of yet, so a fanlisting for her should not have been approved.  Generally speaking, one episode/chapter is not long enough to get to know a recurring character, especially early on in a series or when a character is first introduced.  4 episodes is a general number and may not apply to all characters or to all series (for example, series that are very short or characters who appear only briefly).
