Okay, just wanted to ask a quick codes-related question! I own the fanlisting for the music of Naruto: Shippuuden. If I made codes with images only from Shippuuden (for those who don't know, Shippuuden is the second series in the Naruto franchise) and said "music of" or something else music-related, would that be okay? Or would I have to specify "Shippuuden Music"?

Unless they draw fanart, I'm pretty sure they're not approvable here either :hug: The closest category would be Fanart: Artists under Fanstuff, but that's only for artists who draw fanart of existing anime characters.

edit: oh, I just saw some Bleach fanart in that first link, so you may be able to apply under Fanstuff. I'd check with that staffer first, though :wub:

Well, I'm not a staffer so I can't speak to how they judge applications, but this comes from the FAQ on the site:

If a subject receives many applications, it's not necessarily given to the first person who applies. We judge the applications on many different factors, such as the person's html skills, level of fanness (judged by comments etc.), number of fanlistings on upcoming, number of fanlistings in the fandom, etc. The list goes on, and each staffer weighs these factors differently. There is no specific, uniform formula on who gets selected, but every staffer makes the choices he or she believes is best.

I was in the same situation as you a while ago (except that fanlisting was still accepting members, which was even worse). The best thing to do is make a lot of affiliates, advertise it alot and hope to eventually pass the other fanlisting on search engines. I know it'll take time and it's frusterating, but many times if the fanlistings are inactive, the owner will be unwilling to listen to any emails you send them.

Actually, I disagree with that. I mean, sure, inside this particular thread things are getting pretty heated, but have you noticed how the board is so much closer outside? All of the wonderful new threads that everyone has posted is bringing tons of enthusiasm to everyone and people are really getting along- and in a non-spammy way, like Rosemary pointed out that the "Your Mood" thread was. I think that the mood at AFL has been suddenly lifted and I love getting to know things about everyone else.

So yes, while I wish it didn't take a thread full of hurt feelings to start it, I think things are changing for the better ^_^

Hmm, I'm sort of on both sides of the fence with this one. There are aspects of the post that I agree with- for instance, the 3 pending per category rule is sort of harsh considering the huge troubles removals that happen (especially with both Characters categories as well as Relationships). And I agree with some parts of their objections to code rule, especially when it comes to manga-ka- but, as Chisa pointed out, there are many Series fanlistings that should be on troubles for their codes. I also think that we do need some sort of off-topic chat thread because, as they pointed out, the forum has been rather dead lately.

On the other side, I agree with Rosemary about respect. It does go both ways and staff only seem to get respect when they've done something that makes people happy. I always try to put myself in the staff's shoes when I get rejected for something, and even though it may hurt, I know that at the end of the day, the staff have put lots of time and effort into their decisions. And, as Rosemary stated, it's not a democracy here, so we have to respect their decisions.

Anyways, I do hope more people will post here either way, especially some members. I've read every post top-to-bottom so far, as I'm sure many others have, so now is a great time to voice your opinions. :3

I like Shalott's idea too, but I think you should explain the situation to them before you go and change things. Like, if I donated codes not knowing that rule and someone changed them all without asking, I'd be pretty ticked off, but if they explained the rule to me and said that they could modify them so they could still be used, I would be fine with that.
