I got an approval just recently, for Romeo x Juliet episode 04: "Shyness" One Timid Maiden ~Beaten Down by the Rain~ However when I got the approval email, the title was: "Hajirai" Una timida fanciulla ~Ame ni Utarete~

Are we supposed to apply for the titles in japanese? If so, I was never aware and I still got approved. Is this a new rule Episodes has been just recently inforcing?

I don't know if it's new or not (Shalott know, probably) but it's in the rules when you go to the Episodes application form:

Quote
The following information MUST be included, or your application will be sent back to you:

   1. ORIGINAL Japanese anime series name

   2. JAPANESE episode number

   3. Episode name. Please use the romanized original JAPANESE name. If it is unavailable, then use the English TRANSLATION of the original Japanese name. If that can't be found, then use the English name as a last resort, and please say state which name you are using (original, translation, or English name).

:)

That must be new, I've never seen it. Oh well, thanks for clearing that up, Chisa!

I'm not a staffer but no, it isn't new, it's been in place for a while now (at least since last year).

:) Thanks Chisa, Carolyn!

But yes, unless the episode name is orginally in English (Or a different language- you can see that some of them are just by looking at the currently approved episodes) you should apply for the fanlisting in the original Japanese. This isn't a new rule, but I don't usually have a difficult time finding the original name, so I don't think I have ever sent an application back because of this.

I will, on occassion, use my best judgement to determine whether the episode should be listed in English or Japanese, but for the most part I try to stick with the original name format. ^^
