Yeeees, because this gives me a good excuse to spam & squee more about my beloved JE boys~ /gets shot

So! Anyone else here who's watching any kind of Asian dramas? Japanese, Korean.. Taiwanese? And everything else. Any recs? :hug: Much squeeage appreciated!

As for meeeee, I'm mostly only watching Japanese stuff; I've only seen a few Korean dramas so far.. actually only one, and that one I was forced to watch. Yeah, looking at you, Taichou. Still, My Lovely Sam Soon was quite an amazing show. ^^ Even though I never got to finish it. >>;

But yeah, I think my favorite drama of all time is still Nobuta wo Produce because fasfjsf;s Yamapi is in it and plays a fantastic Akira. Seriously, so much love and win. I pretty much like all of P's dramas though.. Kurosagi was so fantastic too~ <33 :whistle:

Other than this, I have a soft spot for the Hana Kimi adaption with Oguri Shun and Ikuta Toma as well (even though I don't like the former; exception being in Hana Yori Dango where he was okay as Rui but nothing compared to Tsukasa imo) simply because it was one of the most hilarious things I've ever watched. Oh, Nakatsu.

/could go on like this forever (cough)

Liar Game has a great drama! Not to mention a seriously hot actor as Akiyama (as if I needed another reason to think he was hot >_>)

I also watched the Zettai Kareshi drama but didn't like how it departed from the manga.

I watch Kdramas a lot more than Jdramas, to be honest. :hug: My Lovely Sam-Soon is easily my favorite still, after all these years, even more so now because I can relate with it even more, LOL. That and Full House are really, really great if you love a good combination of comedy/angst. Country Princess is another great one for humor - seriously, one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen.

But~ I have to mention the Nodame Cantabile drama here, because it is simply amazing. Probably my favorite drama adaptaion to date - Tamaki Hiroshi and Ueno Juri just become Chiaki and Nodame and are just perfect, as is the rest of the cast.
I also watched the Zettai Kareshi drama but didn't like how it departed from the manga.
Will have to disagree with you there - I felt it was a very good adaptation and took a lot of risk branching out the way it did. While certain parts of it were definitely annoying to me (mostly Soushi's characterization), it was interesting to see them try and make it more relatable and presentable for modern Japan and the people who would be watching. I especially thought the way they made Night more "robotic" was a neat touch, because it made his transgression into human consciousness all the more personable and appreciated. Mokomichi Hayami took getting used to, but he did an admirable job and had great chemistry with Aibu Saki. :whistle: Mizushima Hiro, while a great actor, was more frustrating, because it seemed like his was playing Masaki (as Soushi).

Ooooh, I used to watch quite a bit of Asian dramas, though lately I haven't really been watching anything. I usually watch either Japanese or TW dramas, though I have a small dislike for all the extravagant stuff in the latter (where it's really obvious they try to make you laugh). I really liked the concept of Gokusen, though three seasons of basically the same story makes it a bit repetitive for me and yet I still watched all three. Like Sarah mentioned, Kurosagi was really awesome too, I thought the plot was nicely written and I kept wanting to watch the next episode.

I could never get into the Nodame Cantabile anime or manga, but I found the drama very entertaining and fun to watch!

For TW dramas, I quite liked Bull Fighting and Silence, they both start out as the typical "hate-turns-into-love" thing, but there's some nice development as well.

Yeah, I think that some of the changes were good (like changing the setting and the age of the characters), but the Soushi thing really bothered me because he was who I was most looking forward to. Mizushima acted the part phenomenally, but like you said, his role shouldn't have been swapped with Masaki's. It would have been nice to see the loyal, stand-by-you type Soushi like he was in the manga.

Hmm, after reading this thread, I'm definitely going to try a few of these dramas! /starts writing down series

I've probably only seen about ten Asian dramas at most. Of the few I've seen, my favorites were Big Wing, Ekoeko Azarak, Hana Yori Dango and S.O.S. (Strawberry on the Shortcake).

I don't watch much dramas actually. XD; But so far, I've only ever seen two J-dramas, which was the Zettai Kareshi and the Hana Yori Dango drama, and even though they differed from the original, I really loved them. :wub: (And oh gosh, Matsumoto Jun especially stole my heart~! <33)
